The Teahouse was established after becoming increasingly frustrated with the quality of tea, in particular Green Tea, available through supermarket chains. Having travelled to the Far East and having explored the vast world of teas we knew that these offerings were a very poor second to the delights we had sampled. We had discovered tea as it was meant to be and with it a passion we wanted to share.
Almost everyday we read about the benefits of drinking green tea, and most of us now know that it is good for us, but have we ever thought about the actual quality of the tea that goes into tea bags or the length of time the tea has taken to reach the shelves?
In order to gain maximum benefits from drinking tea, high quality, fresh, whole leaf tea should be used ... but where could we get it from?
The answer was we couldn’t, without visiting the likes of Harrods or Fortnum & Mason ... and so The Teahouse was born.
The Teahouse specialises in Chinese Green Teas, however we have also a good selection Indian teas, Rooibos (or Red Bush) and other Caffeine Free alternatives.
Our range of China Green Tea, White Tea, Oolong Tea and Black Teas come from farms that we have visited. We use family members in China to establish relationships direct with Tea Farms. Having relations in China who are as passionate about tea as we are has meant we have been able to not only guarantee the quality of our tea leaves, but it also cuts out the middle men, meaning we can guarantee that our teas have literally just been picked and come direct to you from the place they were grown.
Several of our Teas are from certified Organic Tea Farms that carry the industry's most stringent control, the Swiss IMO Certification. In fact we have been lucky enough to secure a limited range of teas from China’s first Organic Tea Farm to be chosen by the UN as a demonstration base for other farms aspiring to reach the organic status.
The more we researched the market the more we became convinced that tea really is an amazing drink. Our section on health benefits gives some great information about why teas are good for us. It also looks at which teas are best for different conditions, such as weight loss, digestion, or even lowering cholesterol. I recently had my cholesterol level checked and they are at 1.6, amazingly low according to my doctor, in fact he is now drinking our green tea and monitoring his own levels!
The Teahouse will continue to expand its range of Teas, as and when we find suitable quality suppliers that meet both our Ethical Trading criteria and policy of only buying the best teas.
Please feel free to Contact Us if there is a tea that you are trying to source or for any further information. |
